Some of the links are a bit dated as I have been traveling but I think the are worthy of your attention…
Still testing the look of a new article or feature where I just link to several interesting X threads or article links that I think are interesting. This post is also an open thread. I welcome my readers to post any comments or additional links relating to any defense issues that I have not or should cover, even if unrelated to the links below.
Notable IMO that this highly detailed description, for whatever reason, makes zero mention of, or accounting for, US/allied intervention. https://t.co/XHDtYx36cb

Tom Shugart nails it in his comments. Obligatory endorsement…You should definitely follow Shugart on X.
The runway is likely built by the United Arab Emirates, which has long been suspected of expanding its military presence in the region. https://t.co/i4xuPM5mfZ

While within Houthi drone and missile range, the distance of Abd al-Kuri from mainland Yemen means “there’s no threat of the Houthis getting on a pickup truck or a technical and going to seize it,” said Yemen expert Mohammed al-Basha of the Basha Report risk advisory firm.
Abd al-Kuri is part of the Socotra Archipelago, separated from Africa by only 60 miles and from Yemen by some 250 miles. In the last decade of the Cold War, the archipelago occasionally hosted Soviet warships due to its strategic location.
China accuses the Philippines of ‘exaggerating’ the presence of its Coast Guard vessels in the #SouthChinaSea? Let’s be clear: there’s no exaggeration in standing up to repeated violations of Philippine sovereignty and international law.
China’s claim that these activities are… https://t.co/hNdTImIIxK

The real exaggeration here is China’s audacity to continue bullying its neighbors, violating UNCLOS, and pretending its claims hold any legitimacy. Sovereignty isn’t negotiable, and the rule of law doesn’t bend to Beijing’s will.
I’m Danish.
I think my country is failing Greenland.
Trump’s push to make a deal isn’t the problem; it’s Denmark’s lack of vision for the island.
Here’s the current situation and why a U.S.-Greenland deal could change everything: 🧵 pic.twitter.com/RzqasEeWMD

I agree, Denmark is failing Greenland.
My periodic reminder (because this won’t likely be in the doc) that al-Qaeda was very intimately involved in this battle, with key operatives such as Sayf al-Adl, Abu Muhammad al-Masri, Abdulaziz al-Muqrin, Abu al-Hassan al-Sa’idi, and Yusuf al-Ayeri (among others), taking part. https://t.co/ilGQ9fKoQP

This quote, “But failure has to be an option in art and in exploration, because it’s a leap of faith. And no important endeavor that required innovation was done without risk. You have to be willing to take those risks. So, that’s the thought I would leave you with, is that in whatever you’re doing, failure is an option, but fear is not.”
The wars of Louis XIV are criminally neglected in popular anglophone historiography. They were enormous in scope and consequence, shaping the map of modern Europe arguably even more than the Napoleonic wars.
But something else makes them worthy of study. https://t.co/cyL7Crtl1d pic.twitter.com/gXvx9YzCpf
